Another TV special that is well worth watching is the original animated How the Grinch Stole Christmas. The Grinch thinks that if he steals all the Christmas presents, he will have succeeded in stealing Christmas. He finds out otherwise. In the end he understands, and he celebrates the meaning of Christmas along with all the others.

Originally by Dr. Seuss, the story 'reminds' kids that it's not all about the presents.

Hi Sarah! I'd just read this today. Dunno why I missed it when you posted it, but as I was reading it I had to do a double-take because that is EXACTLY my own experience, too! For a split second I thought I was reading something I had written!

Black and white TV in the family room of our modest little home in Palo Alto, CA in the 1970s. We were not raised in a Christian home, but as a child, just like yourself, I understood the message somehow transcended the cartoon and was true.

I think I was six or seven when I first saw it. Funny how as a child I "knew" that Charlie Brown and company were "just cartoons" but that whatever Linus was saying was absolutely true. And go back and look at the point where Linus drops his blanket. Pretty remarkable.

It would be another 20 years before Jesus fully revealed Himself to me in my mid 20s. But looking back, I can see He was preparing me, even in childhood. Thanks for posting!
